Dr. Ki Chon and his collaborators at UMass Med were awarded a four-year R01 grant from the NIH in the amount of $3.069M. Dr. Chon and Dr. McManus (University of Massachusetts Medical Center) are multi-PIs. The grant is entitled “Smartwatch Monitoring for Atrial Fibrillation After Stroke.” The work involves the use of smartwatches for detection of atrial fibrillation. The algorithm development work will be done at UConn and a clinical trial will be carried out at UMass. The UConn portion of the grant is $1.1M. Dr. Bing Wang is a co-investigator from UConn and her lab will be responsible for smartphone application development.
